A. Procurement and Cost Control Leadership
You are responsible for managing and controlling all expenditure related to project materials, assets, and operational stores.
- Strategic Negotiation: The critical task of ensuring that key items are procured at their best rate through rigorous negotiation. This is necessary to efficiently fulfill all Stores/BU/Project material requirements, directly contributing to profit margins.
- Market Intelligence and Analysis: You must conduct thorough surveys related to commercials for collecting information related to market trends, rates prevailing (for material, equipment, and services), and vendor performance. This data must be transformed into comprehensive comparative statements to enable informed, data-driven decision-making related to all commercial activities.
- Project Cost Control: Providing direct support in proposal preparation by delivering accurate cost estimates and forecasts, and continuously controlling project cost throughout the execution phase to prevent budget overruns.
B. Supply Chain Management and Compliance
The role spans the entire supply chain, from prequalification and procurement to storage and legal compliance.
- Vendor Prequalification and Management: Managing the prequalification of vendors, a systematic process to vet and approve third-party suppliers, ensuring they meet quality, financial, and compliance standards. This is central to implementing the “value chain concept” by managing and identifying key vendors and suppliers.
- Logistics and Legal Matters: Managing procurement related to projects, stores, inventory, fixed assets, and overseeing all legal matters related to the shipment of goods and equipment (e.g., customs documentation, duties, and transportation contracts).
- Inventory and Stores Control: Ensuring that all the goods/material/equipment are procured and stored according to company policies and procedures and strictly according to project schedules, minimizing delays and waste.
C. System Upgradation and Process Improvement
You serve as the vital link between operational teams and the management systems that govern commercial activities.
- End-User Liaison: Working closely with end-users (Engineers, Site Managers) to get their feedback on current systems/software (like SAP or internal ERP tools).
- System Enhancement: Compiling and forwarding this essential feedback to the Project Management System (PMS) team and strongly interacting with PMS staff for systems/software up-gradation (as per requirement) and seamless implementation across the BU.
